Driver trapped in crash on Old Winter Garden, Kirkman roads, troopers say

Vehicle struck semitruck in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Crews with the Orange County Fire Department Wednesday morning had to free the driver of a vehicle that was partially trapped under a tractor-trailer, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened at 6:35 a.m. at Old Winter Garden and Kirkman roads when a vehicle struck a semitruck.

Marielle Rene, 63, was driving a Toyota RAV4 when she made a U-turn and entered the direct path of a Mercedes. The front of the Mercedes struck the right side of the Toyota, according to the report.

Troopers said the force of the crash caused the Toyota to travel onto the right shoulder where it struck a fence then slid under the trailer portion of a tractor-trailer.

Rene was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in serious condition.

The driver of the Mercedes was not injured.
