SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A 22-year-old Clermont man was fatally struck by an SUV while walking in Sumter County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the driver of the SUV was heading eastbound on State Road 50, west of County Road 751 around 4 a.m. Thursday when he hit the man, who was walking in the roadway at the time, according to the crash report.

The pedestrian, whose name has not yet been released, died at the scene, troopers said.

The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries, according to the report.

No other details were immediately available.
