Driver killed when vehicle flies off SR 408 ramp, police say

SR 408 reopens in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – A driver was killed Tuesday night after a vehicle struck some barrels on State Road 408, went over the ramp and crashed to the ground below, police said.

The crash was reported around 7:40 p.m. on S.R. 408 at Orange Avenue.

Brian Javier Fernandez Esles, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver was eastbound on SR 408 when the vehicle hit the safety barrels and crashed to the ground, landing on its roof near Magnolia Avenue.

Officials closed eastbound S.R. 408 at Interstate 4, but the road reopened just after 10 p.m.

An investigation is continuing.
