Woman, 23, killed in wrong-way, head-on crash on SR A1A in Brevard

Fatal crash investigated near Sabal Ridge Lane

MELBOURNE BEACH, Fla. – A 23-year-old Orlando woman was killed early Friday in a wrong-way, head-on crash in Brevard County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The fatal crash was reported at 2:56 a.m. on State Road A1A and Sabal Ridge Lane in Melbourne Beach.

The FHP said two other women and a man suffered serious injuries in the crash.

According to troopers, Kyah Muntz, 19, of Melbourne Beach, was driving a 2006 Volkswagen south in the northbound lanes of S.R. A1A and struck a 2013 Chevrolet Cruze head-on. A passenger in the Cruze, 23-year-old Kavika Chuch, was killed. Her name has not been released.

The driver of the Cruze, a 21-year-old Katlyn Duncan, of Tampa, and another passenger, 28-year-old Grant Luker of Orlando, were taken to Holmes Regional, the FHP said.

Muntz also suffered serious injuries and was taken to Holmes Regional Hospital, troopers said.

The drivers and passengers in both vehicles were wearing seat belts, according to an FHP report.

The wreck blocked northbound and southbound lanes of State Road A1A for more than six hours before the road was reopened.
