WILDWOOD, Fla. – A man is facing a slew of charges after slamming his car into another car while being pursued by a state trooper, killing the other driver, and then running from the scene, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
FHP officials said the trooper who was conducting a speed enforcement clocked a Nissan Altima, driven by Troy Kinkade, 23, of Plant City, going 92 mph on Interstate 75 just before 6 a.m. Tuesday.

While trying to overtake Kinkade's car, troopers said he abruptly exited the interstate at State Road 44, ran through a red light and collided with a Toyota Camry, driven by Kristi Reed, 61, of Homosassa Springs, Florida.
FHP officials said after both cars came to a rest on the shoulder of the intersection, Kinkade got out of his car and ran away. However, the trooper chased and caught Kinkade.
Troopers said Reed died of her injuries at the scene of the crash.
Kinkade and three passengers inside his car suffered minor injuries.
Kinkade was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, driving while license suspended involving a death, leaving the scene of a crash involving a death and resisting an officer with violence. He was taken to the Sumter County Jail.
