Woman dead in crash on I-95 in Port Orange

Northbound lanes blocked due to crash near mile marker 250

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A woman is dead after a crash on I-95 in Port Orange, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 6 p.m. Saturday in the northbound lanes of I-95 at mile marker 250.

A 51-year-old man was driving a Subaru north in the right lane of the interstate. Troopers said the man traveled into the center lane and lost control of the vehicle.

The Subaru went back into the right lane and onto the shoulder. Troopers said the right side of the vehicle struck the crash attenuator.

A 58-year-old woman who was a passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the FHP. The man was taken to Halifax Medical Center with minor injuries.

All northbound lanes were blocked due to the crash. Traffic was being rerouted onto State Road 44, or Exit 249.
