Both directions of I-4 near State Road 408 to close on upcoming nights

Westbound, eastbound lanes to close during night on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday

ORLANDO, Fla. – Westbound and eastbound lanes of I-4 near State Road 408 will be closed during the night on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.

FDOT officials said westbound Interstate 4 from Colonial Drive (or State Road 50) to State Road 408 and eastbound I-4 from Gore Street to State Road 408 are closing the night of Nov. 18 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and the nights of Nov. 19 and 20 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The nightly closures are necessary to place girders for the new eastbound I-4 exit ramp to westbound SR 408, FDOT officials said. Motorists are advised to maintain a safe speed when driving through the work zone.

Westbound I-4 near State Road 408

Drivers heading on westbound I-4 will exit onto westbound Colonial Drive and then travel southbound on Orange Blossom Trail (U.S. 17-92/441) to re-enter westbound I-4, FDOT officials said. Law enforcement officers will monitor each signalized intersection on the detour route of Colonial Drive and Orange Blossom Trail to promote traffic flow.

FDOT officials said the westbound I-4 entrance ramps from westbound Colonial Drive, Amelia Street and South Street will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the nights of Nov. 18, 19 and 20.

The westbound I-4 entrance ramps from Kaley Avenue and Gore Street will remain open during these closures, FDOT officials said.

Eastbound I-4 near State Road 408

FDOT officials said drivers heading on eastbound I-4 will exit at South Street (or Exit 82B), head north on Garland Avenue and re-enter eastbound I-4 at the ramp after the Amelia Street intersection.

The eastbound SR 408 exit ramp to eastbound I-4 will also be closed the night of Nov. 18 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and the nights of Nov. 19 and 20 from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., FDOT officials said.
