ORLANDO, Fla. - A motorcyclist was killed Thursday morning in a crash with a tractor-trailer in Orlando, authorities said.

The crash happened on Principal Row near Orange Blossom Trail, south of the Florida Turnpike.

Troopers say a semi truck, driven by 34-year-old Marlon Sterling of Orlando, was traveling westbound on Principal Row attempting to turn right onto a driveway. Troopers said the motorcyclist sped up and attempted to pass the semi from the right side when it collided with the front of the semi.

Troopers say the motorcyclist and motorcycle were partially run over by the truck. The name of the 47-year-old man who was killed has not been released.

Principal Row was closed as Florida Highway Patrol troopers investigated.
