SR 528 reopens after brush fire smoke clears

Fire burns hundreds of acres in wildlife refuge

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A large stretch of State Road 528 that was shut down early Tuesday because of smoke from a brush fire is now open, New 6 partner Florida Today reports.

The highway was closed between State Road 520 and I-95, spanning Orange and Brevard counties.

The smoke is coming from a fire that has burned over 600 acres in the St. Johns National Wildlife Refuge.

Smoke from the same fire shut down a stretch of State Road 407 on Monday.
