Woman, 61, struck, killed crossing road in Lake County

FHP identifies woman as Carolynne Slamka

LEESBURG, Fla. – A 61-year-old woman was struck and killed Thursday night while crossing a road in Lake County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said Carolynne Slamka, of Wisconsin, was struck around 8 p.m. near the intersection of Camp Road and County Road 473 in Lake County.

The FHP said Slamka was trying to cross CR 473 when she was struck by a 2017 Chevrolet driven by a 24-year-old New York man.

Slamka was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The driver was not injured, the FHP said.

An investigation into the crash is continuing.
