ORLANDO, Fla. – A road on the campus of the University of Central Florida was shut down on Tuesday afternoon due to flooding.

Libra Drive was closed at around 2 p.m. after rain caused the road to flood, according to UCF police.

Police said all other campus operations were normal and faculty was being asked to be patient with students who may be late.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area, and UCF police asked students to stay indoors.

The flooding occurred as heavy showers crept to the northwest across Central Florida Tuesday afternoon bringing nearly 4 inches of rain in a few hours. The National Weather Service issued significant weather advisories in several counties.

UCF officials said they've survived for most of the rainy season and are not making any new plans to handle the upcoming rains.
