A rapidly spreading wildfire in San Bernardino County, California, has consumed about 6,300 acres and prompted thousands of evacuation orders.
The U.S. Forest Service and the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department says more than 5,000 homes were impacted by mandatory and voluntary evacuation orders in the Summit Valley area and Hesperia, The Los Angeles Times reports.
The fire was first reported near Pilot Rock Conservation Camp on Sunday. Dry conditions have caused the fire to spread quickly.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
