The storm, which is 525 miles northeast of San Juan, Puerto Rico, is believed to pose no current threat to land.
Nicole has wind speeds of 50 mph and is heading northwest at 8 mph.
Little change in strength is expected for the next day or so, followed by gradual weakening.
Nicole formed as Hurricane Matthew churned toward Florida Tuesday morning.
