Cooler temperatures headed to Central Florida

Tropical wave could become named storm Otto

ORLANDO, Fla. – Cooler air and lower rain chances are in the Central Florida forecast as a tropical wave pulls away from the United States.

"As much drier air works into the atmosphere, rain chances will be much lower for the next several days," News 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said.

The high temperature in Orlando will reach 86 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday. The average high on this date is 84.

"With a new front arriving Friday, there will be big changes behind it," Bridges said. "Highs will only reach the middle and upper 70s on Saturday and Sunday, with morning lows in the 50s by Sunday morning and into the beginning of next week."

Rain chances will remain very low because of the front, Bridges said.

Tracking the tropics

"The wave that we have been watching for the last few days continues to move away from the Bahamas and the U.S.," Bridges said.

The system has an 80 percent chance of development within the next five days.

"It could get the name Otto as early as Wednesday," Bridges said. "We will see increased rip currents for the next couple days as the system moves farther away."
