Expect rain again Sunday across Orlando area

70 percent chance of rain July 4

ORLANDO, Fla. – Cloud cover Saturday kept the high temperature to 86 degrees and rain totals topped 1.27 inch in Sanford and 0.84 inch in Orlando, while Leesburg got 0.44 inch.

Recent heavy rain has caused the St. Johns River to rise, which can be hazardous for boaters.

"Be sure to slow down while on the water and watch for debris," News 6 meteorologist Samara Cokinos said.

Showers ended early, leaving a partly cloudy sky cover and balmy temperatures in the mid to low 70s.

Under mixed skies Sunday, the temperature will quickly climb to 94 degrees inland and 91 degrees along the coast. Rain chances are high at 60 percent.

Looking ahead at the upcoming week and the Fourth of July holiday, rain chances remain high each day, and by Wednesday, rain chances could hit 70 percent.

"Make your umbrella your companion," News 6 meteorologist Danny Treanor said.
