Sunny, clear day set to end first weekend of 2019 in Central Florida

Highs to stay in upper 60s, low 70s

ORLANDO, Fla. – The first weekend of the new year is expected to end with sunny skies and mild weather.

Sunday began chilly, with temperatures in the 40s and 50s and a light north wind between 5 and 10 mph.

"During the day, there will be plenty of sunshine to go around," News 6 meteorologist Samara Cokinos said.

Highs will reach the upper 60s and low 70s, which Cokinos said is right around average for this time of year.

"Clear skies and wall to wall sunshine made for a day to brag about in Central Florida," News 6 meteorologist Danny Treanor said.

Clear skies Sunday night will produce a bit of a chill in the air, with lows ranging from 46 degrees in Ocala to 52 degrees in Orlando to 53 degrees in Palm Bay.

More sunny days are in store on Monday and Tuesday, with a gradual warming trend. Highs on Monday will be in the low 70s.

According to Treanor, Wednesday night will bring another crop of cold air that will bring temperatures down. The next chance for rain will arrive on the weekend.
