Disturbance in Gulf could move over Florida; tropical development possible

Some models take it over Florida late this week and into the weekend

ORLANDO, Fla. – An area of showers and storms located over the north central Gulf will have a chance to develop over the next few days.

As of Tuesday afternoon, some computer models take the disturbance over Florida late this week before it emerges in the Atlantic.

Regardless of development, the weather system will increase the threat of rain and storms across the area.

The National Hurricane Center said the disturbance has a 10% chance of developing tropical characteristics over the next two days and a 20% chance over the next seven days.
