Neighbors helping neighbors after Hurricane Irma

Plenty still struggle without power

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – More than 30 percent of customers in Seminole County are still without power after Hurricane Irma.

But News 6 found neighbor after neighbor helping one another get by while the power is off.

"You don't realize what a burden it is until you miss it," said Bill Trimble.

Deanne Hoggard hosted neighbors and friends inside her Seminole County home with electricity, offering up her washer and dryer, as well as gumbo and Wi-Fi.

"We just got our power back yesterday afternoon," she explained. "My sister doesn't have power and then we invited anyone else to bring their laundry and we'll wash it and fold it."

"Everybody needs a little help every now and then," Trimble added. "But you don't always ask for it, but it gets offered in times like this."
