Low rain chances to start week in Central Florida

Orlando to see high in low 90s

ORLANDO, Fla. – It's shaping up to be a nice start to the week in Central Florida.

"Drier air is working in behind Hurricane Maria, leading to low rain chances the rest of the week," News 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said.

Expect a 20 percent coverage, with a couple of showers and storms Monday afternoon.

Rain chances dip to 10 percent from Tuesday through Thursday before increasing 40 percent from Friday through Sunday.

"Afternoon high temperatures will be a little bit above the average because of the drier air," Bridges said.

Monday's high is expected to be 92. The average high in Orlando on this date is 89.

Highs will be in the low to mid-90s for the rest of the week.

Tracking the tropics

Hurricanes Maria and Lee are churning in the Atlantic.

Maria will remain about 500 miles off Florida's coast.

Right now, Maria has 85 mph maximum sustained winds and is moving north at 7 mph.

"We will have rip currents as well as high seas for the rest of the week because of Maria," Bridges said.

Lee has winds of 90 mph and is moving east-southeast at 3 mph.

Lee will stay more than 1,000 miles away from Florida and will not impact us at all.
