More heat, humidity, storms forecast for Central Florida

Orlando to see high of 93 degrees

ORLANDO, Fla. – Here's your hump day forecast for Central Florida: more heat, more humidity and more storms.

"Once again, expect a high coverage of showers and storms toward the end of the afternoon and evening," News 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said.

The high will hit 93 in Orlando, one degree above the average high on this date.

Rain chances will be at 60 percent on Wednesday through Friday.

"Of course, most of the storms will be generated by the seabreezes," Bridges said. "When the seabreezes come together and battle it out along Interstate 4, they tend to be a bit stronger. Expect lightning, strong winds greater than 50 mph and very heavy rain in time for that drive home."

There's a 50 percent coverage of showers and storms over the weekend.

Orlando had 0.73 inches of rain on Tuesday, putting the yearly rain deficit at 7.71 inches.

Pinpointing the tropics

Tropical Storm Don has dissipated.

"Wind shear and drier air interacted with Don just south of the Lesser Antilles, tearing the storm apart," Bridges said. "Now, we watch what's behind Don."

A low-pressure system located more than 1000 miles west-southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing a large area of cloudiness and showers.

Some slow development of the system is possible during the next day or two while it moves toward the west-northwest at 10 to 15 mph. Eventually, environmental conditions are forecast to become unfavorable for development.

The system currently has a 30 percent chance of development over the next two days.

Computer models have the system staying away from Florida.
