Orlando has 4th warmest winter on record

Above-average temperatures expected for spring

ORLANDO, Fla. – We all know that winter in Central Florida is the best time of the year.

The temperatures are mild, the humidity is low and those pesky afternoon thunderstorms are hard to find. Although we had a handful of strong cold fronts, this winter has shaped up to be one for the record books.

Averaging the daytime highs and overnight lows since December 2016, Orlando, Melbourne and Daytona Beach all experienced an above-average winter.

In Orlando, the average temperature topped off at 68.1 degrees, making it the 4th warmest winter on record.

The same story goes for Daytona Beach, which had an average temperate of 69.5 degrees, also making it the fourth warmest winter. Melbourne also joined the club with the fourth warmest winter with a mean temperature of 66.9 degrees.

Seasonal climatology shows that Central Floridians should get used to this warmer-than-average weather, as spring is expected to run above average with its average temperatures as well as rainfall.
