Rain chances to return to Central Florida this week

Tropical storm season begins Thursday

ORLANDO, Fla. – Very hot temperatures controlled the day again Sunday in Central Florida.

"Expect more of the same on Monday with an extra splash of humidity, but no rain," News 6 weather anchor Danny Treanor said.

Temperatures Sunday were near or above 95 degrees as heat ruled the day.  However, clear skies should allow temperatures to drop quickly Sunday night after the sun goes down. Sunday night lows will dip to 70 degrees in Ocala, 71 degrees in Palm Bay and 74 degrees in Orlando.

"Wall-to-wall sunshine on Monday will see temperatures rise quickly and top out at 93 in Melbourne, 96 in Daytona Beach and 97 in Orlando," Treanor said. "Remember the heat safety rules -- slow down, drink water, seek shade."

The remainder of the week could see the onset of the rainy season with a 20 percent chance of rain Tuesday, rising to 40 percent Thursday and 50 percent Friday.

Tropical storm season begins Thursday. News 6 will have information all day to help you prepare for the storms, including during our hurricane special at 7 p.m.

"Hope your lawn gets a drink of water this week," Treanor said.
