ORLANDO, Fla. – Rain chances are on the rise in Central Florida as tropical moisture works in from the south.
"Expect a 40 percent coverage of showers and storms on Wednesday," News 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said. "Some storms could be strong for the afternoon drive, with lightning, heavy rain and strong winds gusts."
The weather is coming from a low known as Invest 92.
"It will likely not develop very much in the coming days, although the hurricane center is giving it a 40 percent chance of development within the next five days," Bridges said. "Some models try to intensify the system into a tropical storm, which would have the name Hannah, sometime early next week off the Florida coast and moving away from the Sunshine State."
Afternoon high temperatures will be in the mid-90s, with "feels like" temps in the triple digits. The average height for this date is 91.
"Be careful if you're outside for long and make sure the kids have the rain gear," Bridges said.
