ORLANDO, Fla. - As plenty of dry air works its way into Central Florida behind the cool front, we can expect sunshine and warm temperatures to close out the weekend.
High pressure is dominating the forecast for Sunday. That will lead to a high of 78 on Sunday and temperatures in the low 80s for the start of the work week.
Rain chances don’t return until Thursday, the first day of winter, with a 20 percent chance of rain and the high still near 80 degrees. Temperatures will stay near 80 through next weekend.
The average high in Orlando Saturday was 73 degrees.
Near the Orlando International Airport it warmed up to 74 degrees, which was nowhere near the record of 86 from 1971.
The normal high is 72 degrees on Dec. 17. The record is 87, which was set in 1922.
Without rain yesterday, the area rain deficit since Jan. 1 is at 2.84 inches.
