Veterans Day brings cooler temperatures, some rain to Central Florida

After a cool start to Veterans Day, News 6 meteorologist Samara Cokinos said the day is going to shape up nicely for the afternoon.

Warm temperatures and humidity returned to Central Florida and moisture helped bring a few showers into Brevard County. 

News 6 meteorologist Danny Treanor said the forecast is about to change.

"Especially in the cool air department," Treanor said. "But that won't happen until Thursday. Between then and now, we will experience an increased chance for some rain showers and possible thunderstorms."

There's a small craft advisory  in place offshore until 10 a.m. Tuesday. Seas will build to between 5 and 7 feet. Seas are expected to be choppy along the Intracoastal Waterway.

Sunday night lows will range from 66 degrees in Ocala to 69 degrees in Orlando to 72 degrees in Melbourne. Rain chances will be low, around 30 percent.

Clouds and moisture will build overnight into Monday morning. On Monday temperatures will be cooler due to cloud cover and the possibility of rain. Rain chances on Monday will be 20 percent and are expected to increase to 50 percent on Tuesday.

By Thursday a new area of cold air will try to move into the area, leaving temperatures in the 60s and 70s during the day. Temperatures at night will dip into the cool 50s for most areas.
 

TROPICAL UPDATE

A tropical wave well east of the Lesser Antilles is not expected to develop much over the next few days.

By the middle of the upcoming week, the National Hurricane Center increases the chances of development up to 50 percent as it moves into a more favorable environment before it interacts with a cold front to the northwest of the Bahamas.

"We're going to keep our eye on the distrubance, but don't expect any major problems," Treanor said.
