Weather looking nice for Saturday morning's planned SpaceX launch

Falcon 9 rocket scheduled to launch from KSC at 10:01 a.m.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. – "We are looking good in Central Florida for any events going on outside, especially the rocket launch," News 6 meteorologist Madeline Evans said.

It will be about 68 degrees with mostly sunny skies around 10 a.m. Saturday, when the Falcon 9 rocket is expected to launch. Saturday will reach a high of 81 degrees, with only a 20 percent chance of rain. Wind is coming from the south at 5-10 mph.

Rain chances will rise to about 50 percent Saturday night.

There is a chance for heavy rain and possible thunderstorms by about 8 p.m. Those will move quickly, and by 11 p.m., Central Florida will be mostly dry under a partly cloudy sky.

"We wake up with heavier cloud cover and a slight chance of some light showers Sunday morning," Evans said.

By Sunday afternoon, Central Florida will be mostly sunny and dry with a high of 82 degrees.
