Lake County superintendent asks governor to veto budget

Claims budget would leave district with $1.2 million deficit

TAVARES, Fla. – A Central Florida school superintendent is calling on Gov. Rick Scott to veto the entire budget passed by state lawmakers.

Lake County Superintendent Diana Kornegay made the request in a letter over the weekend.

Kornegay said the budget did not include enough money for schools and because of retirement and health care costs, it is going to leave the district with a $1.2 million deficit.

Kornegay also said she is not happy with an education bill that would give more money for charter school construction.

The governor has not said if he will veto the spending plan.
