SeaWorld fights proposed breeding ban

Park owners reach out to fans

ORLANDO, Fla. – SeaWorld is asking its fans to help fight legislation that would eventually eliminate killer whales from its theme parks.

A California lawmaker has filed a bill in Congress that would not only ban orcas from being captured, but would also stop companies like SeaWorld from breeding whales in captivity.

The company sent out an email to people on their mailing list with links to a website where readers can write a letter to Congress urging them to vote against the bill.

SeaWorld calls the legislation "misguided" and says it would end valuable research that is helping to protect whales in captivity and the wild.
