Feel like a Fribble? Friendly’s opens 2nd Orlando-area location

Opening marks 3rd location in Central Florida

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Friendly’s announced its newest location near Walt Disney World in Orange County is now in its soft opening.

The new restaurant is located at 8600 Vineland Ave., Suite 101.

The franchise is run by Amol Kohli, who started as a waiter at a Friendly’s in high school, according to a news release. Kohli owns 30 locations of the chain, the release said.

This is the third Friendly’s in the Sunshine State, all of which are in Central Florida, two in Orange County and one in Melbourne, according to the company’s website.

Friendly’s first opened in Massachusetts in 1935, the website said, with more than a hundred locations in 11 states along the East Coast.

The chain features a typical diner-style menu, but it is most known for its ice cream, particularly its Fribble milkshakes.

The company has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy twice, once in 2011 and again in 2020, according to Forbes Magazine.
