'Die-in' to be held at Sen. Marco Rubio's office in Orlando

Protesters to speak out against GOP-backed health care plan

ORLANDO, Fla. – Before the GOP-backed health care bill goes before the U.S. Senate, a protest against the legislation is planned Tuesday outside Sen. Marco Rubio's Orlando office.

Protesters will stage what they are calling a "die-in" at noon. Participants will lie down holding gravestones that detail causes of death because of the potential loss of health care and pre-existing condition coverage.

Supporters of the bill, including President Donald Trump, say the changes will lead to lower premiums and deductibles.

However, many Democrats, including Sen. Bill Nelson, say it will boot millions from their health insurance.

"We're dealing with people's lives here. We’re dealing with their health," Nelson said. "The last thing in the world that we ought to be doing is cutting out the sources of funding to help people who are in such dire straits. And I would urge our colleagues to think twice about supporting this disastrous Republican health care bill."

The Senate has not set a date to vote on the bill.
