Orlando police are staying quiet Tuesday about how 67-year old Linda Jones died or how Jason M. Rohrer was tied to the death. But through his arrest report, we are learning more about what happened before he got there.
Orange County deputies were already looking for him on the ground with K9s and in the sky with the chase helicopter because they say he was caught breaking into a maroon Ford pick-up truck less than a mile away on Bumby Avenue.
According to the arrest affidavit, two men and another neighbor confronted Rohrer and a fight between them began.
One of the witnesses spoke to News 6 today; the man, who didn't want to be identified, said.
Rohrer (pictured) seemed dazed and violent and told the men he was homeless and just looking for some change.
He also said Rohrer tried to punch one of them and missed and then took off.
Neighbors also said Rohrer was so bloodied by the fight he had with police that he was taken away by ambulance.
The witness says he caught up to Rohrer and they fought, throwing Rohrer into a cactus bush before Rohrer ran away.
That's when Orange County deputies pulled up, according to the arrest report and the search was on. It wasn't 30 minutes later deputies got the call there was a burglary in progress on Orange Peel Court.
That's where Rohrer was found inside and the homeowner, Linda Jones, dead.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Rohrer wasn't booked into the Orange County jail. Orlando Police couldn't tell me if he was still in the hospital or not.
