ORLANDO, Fla. – A new tribute for a fallen Orlando police officer was unveiled Thursday.
A memorial bench honoring Orlando police Lt. Debra Clayton, who was killed in the line of duty in 2017 after confronting murder suspect Markeith Loyd, was installed at the Orlando Police Department training facility.
"We unveiled the memorial bench dedicated to Lieutenant Debra Clayton, end of watch January 9, 2017," Orlando police tweeted. "Thanks to the @CFHLA for the donation of this bench. @OrlandoPDChief stated this location was selected to inspire our new officers starting their training."
Loyd will stand trial in Clayton's death next year after he's tried in the shooting death of his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon.
Jury selection in Dixon's case continued Thursday.
