250,000 bikers expected in Central Florida

21st annual Bikefest rolls into Leesburg

LEESBURG, Fla. – About 250,000 bikers are expected to start rolling into Lake County on Friday for the 21st annual Leesburg Bikefest.

Merchants, residents and visitors to the Historic Downtown Leesburg Business District should expect traffic delays, street and parking lot closures and overall traffic congestion as crews begin to set up for the weekend-long event.

The smell of food and the sound of music will fill the air as events are packed into 30 blocks with 60 concerts, 200 vendors, and bike shows.

Leesburg's Housing Office at 600 Market Street will close on April 28.

The Leesburg Public Library, 100 E. Main Street, will close at 5 p.m. Thursday, April 27, and reopen at 9 a.m. Monday, May 1. The library will grant an extension for all materials due back during the weekend of Bikefest. Monday, May 1 will be the adjusted due date for those materials.

The Municipal Services Center at 204 N. 5th Street, which includes the Building Department, Planning and Zoning, Purchasing, IT and GIS Departments will close on Friday, April 28.

All city offices will open again on Monday, May 1.
