12-year-old calls 911 after mom, dad fall overboard in Lake George

FWC finds body of Norman Diggs in lake

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – The 911 call that was made Sunday night involving the death of 33-year-old Norman Diggs was released Tuesday afternoon.

Florida Fish and Wildlife say Norman went into the water to help his wife Sara after she was having trouble staying afloat.

Sara was able to make it back onto a boat thanks to a friend and his nearby boat.

But it would take crews almost five hours to find Norman's body.

The Diggs' 12-year-old son made the frantic 911 call.

"Who fell in the water," asked the 911 dispatcher.

"My mom and my stepdad," said the 12-year-old.

During the almost ten minute phone call you can hear the dispatcher try to calm the 12-year-old down.

"OK, listen, listen to what I'm saying, okay? Take some deep breathes in your nose and out your mouth slowly, OK," said the dispatcher.

The FWC is waiting on the medical examiner to release the official cause of death.
