Bicyclist struck by elderly woman in Cocoa Beach

45-year-old homeless man in critical condition, police say

COCOA BEACH, Fla. – A 45-year-old homeless man on a bike was struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross State Road 520 around 3:31 p.m. Monday.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was Verlin Jenson, 91.

The victim suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, where he is listed in critical condition.

The elderly woman did not suffer any injuries in the crash.

Police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
