OVIEDO, Fla. - The Oviedo Police Department released body cam video Thursday afternoon of an officer-involved shooting that happened in September.

The video comes after the State Attorney's Office announced on Tuesday that Oviedo Police Officer Matthew Danler, 37, had been indicted on two counts of aggravated battery and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle in connection with the Sept. 1 incident.

Body cam video shows Danler firing his gun at Jason Denard Scott, 33, as he drives toward the officers in a black sedan. Bullet holes can be seen on the driver's side window as the car continues to drive away.

Danler starts running after the vehicle as it heads toward Mitchell Hammock Road, but then gets in his vehicle to continue the pursuit.

"I had a ... the vehicle attempted to hit me," Danler told dispatch. "The guy pushed me with the vehicle."

The video ends after Danler meets up with other Oviedo officers who located Scott.

"When I pulled up, I heard this car revving, as I approached he whipped on me and started coming at me, at which time I drew my weapon," Danler tells an officer at the scene. "He kept on me so I went ahead and engaged."

Scott was shot twice in the abdomen. He survived the incident.

Danler was placed on administrative leave after the shooting, then on Tuesday, when the indictment was announced, he surrendered at the Seminole County Jail, officials said.
