Boil-water notice rescinded in Volusia County after water main break

Water OK to drink in Port Orange, Daytona Beach Shores, Wilbur-by-the-Sea, Ponce Inlet

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – The boil-water notice for several Volusia County cities has been rescinded.

Port Orange Public Utilities Department said on Wednesday two rounds of bacteriological testing found the water quality was excellent.

The water main break affected Port Orange, Daytona Beach Shores, south of Thames Avenue, Wilbur-by-the-Sea and Ponce Inlet.

A total of 82,000 customers were affected by the alert, including 56,000 Port Orange residents. Eleven Volusia County schools were also affected by the boil-water notice, according to Volusia County Schools.
