Boy alert, conscious, when first responders arrive

ORLANDO, Fla. – A child has been hospitalized after falling from the balcony of a third-floor hotel room not far from Walt Disney World.

Orange County Fire Rescue responded to Lake Buena Vista Resort Village and Spa after receiving a call about the fall at 4:37 p.m. Thursday.

The boy's family was gathering their belongings to head back to Michigan when the boy stayed behind in the room on the third floor, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

A family member returned to the room, heard the child scream and then saw the boy on the ground, deputies said.

The boy was alert, conscious and able to walk when first responders arrived.
