Chuy's Tex-Mex eatery opens in Orlando at International Drive

Restaurant tout sand-rolled tortillas, Tex-Mex favorites

ORLANDO, Fla. – International Drive gained a Tex-Mex flair Tuesday with the addition of Chuy's restaurant.

The Austin-based eatery, located at I-shops on the corner of Sand Lake Road and I-Drive, is the second location in the area, joining the Kissimmee location that opened in spring 2013.

The menu includes stuffed chile rellenos, "Chicka-Chicka-Boom" enchiladas and "Big As Yo' Face" burritos, and customers can watch as tortillas are hand-rolled in the dining room.

A weekday happy hour, complete with specials on drinks and appetizers, will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the restaurant is open seven days a week.

The eclectic décor of the restaurant will include eight-foot palm trees, an Elvis shrine and other decorations unique to the Orlando location.

"We are so excited to bring Chuy's to International Drive!" Jack Baum, local owner/operator of Chuy's Orlando, said in a release. "There is nothing like us here on I-Drive, and we can't wait to introduce our made-from-scratch Tex-Mex and funky vibe to both visitors and locals here in town."
