Clermont neighbors report neighborhood pig problem

Animal control officials say there's nothing they can do

CLERMONT, Fla. – Neighbors said Wednesday they have a potbelly problem on Bailey Drive in Clermont.

"We have possums and raccoons and armadillos and grasshoppers,” Margaret Krueger said. “I don't need a pig.”

Krueger said she's fed up and blames a domestic pig, telling News 6 it's been tearing up her yard and digging holes.

"I work so hard in my yard and he's here digging every day,” Krueger said. “I get my big ol' bamboo stick and run him off, because he just digs everywhere.”

Neighbors said the animal has been spotted roaming yards up and down the street for a month now, and it looks as if it could be someone's pet turned loose.

"We were scared because we've never seen a pig here," neighbor Andrea Khan said.

Added Rafman Khan, "I was putting the garbage out and he was over here and then I saw him walk across. Her head was in there and she didn't want to move. I had to come really close.”

The neighbors said they've called animal control, but since it's a potbelly pig, it's not considered wild.

"I like animals of course, (but) it does get old after a little while,” Hermann Krueger said. “After another week, it's got to go.”

Added Margaret Krueger, "I want him gone. I want somebody to give him a nice home."

Neighbors hope someone can help relocate the pig.
