LONGWOOD, Fla. - Dozens of people voiced their support for Longwood's police chief after learning he was the subject of an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
FDLE investigators will only acknowledge that Chief Troy Hickson is the target of a state ethics investigation.
Hickson has served as Longwood's police chief since 2010.
During the city commission meeting on Monday night, supporters told commissioners Hickson should remain the police chief and the community still trusts him.
Longwood mayor Brian Sackett also voiced his support and said Chief Hickson would remain on the job throughout the investigation. However, city commissioners admitted they had not been briefed on the specific allegations against Chief Hickson.
