Police: Man arrested after police chase faces long list of charges

OPD: Silky Johnson, 34, carjacks, assaults two different victims in 20 minutes

ORLANDO, Fla. – An Orlando man is in custody and facing a long list of charges after police arrested him early Saturday morning, according to the Orlando Police Department.

Officers responded to a possible armed carjacking around 12:30 a.m. Police said the victim was carjacked at gunpoint by Silky Johnson, 34.

Orlando police units also responded to Mercy Drive in reference to an aggravated assault with a firearm about 20 minutes later. Silky Johnson was listed as the suspect for this incident as well, according to police.

Officers said they located the stolen vehicle at a liquor store on Parramore Avenue and Gore Street just after 1 a.m. A vehicle pursuit for Johnson then began west on Gore Street to Orange Blossom Trail, which later ended behind Randall Street, according to police.

Johnson was found walking between houses in the area where the chase ended, police said. They added that the gun was also found nearby.

The victims of the carjacking and the aggravated assault both later positively identified Johnson, Orlando police said.

Officers said that, at minimum, Johnson will be charged with armed carjacking, fleeing and attempting to elude, aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony and simple batter.
