Authorities find body of missing boater in Lake Beauclair

Deputies identify missing boater as William Robl, 76

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Authorities discovered the body of a boater reported missing Wednesday on Lake Beauclair, which is just south of Mount Dora west of Highway 441.

Orange County Sheriff's Office deputies, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Lake County Sheriff's Office were called to the Trimble Park and Boat Ramp about a missing boater.

The boater, identified by the Orange County Sheriff's Office as 76-year-old William Alfred Robl, reportedly boarded his boat at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Authorities said he was discovered at 9 a.m. Saturday. Family members were on scene to positively identify the deceased.

Family members became concerned when Robl did not return promptly and made the call to law enforcement, deputies said.

The boat was seen going in circles in the lake at 10:45 a.m., according to the Sheriff's Office. FWC officials were able to secure the boat, but no one was on board.

Lake County helicopters searched the area and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit searched the lake.
