Dancing cop patrols traffic with fancy footwork

Retired Rhode Island police officer returns to streets with whistling tune

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A retired police officer is back on the job to direct traffic while dancing for drivers.

Tony Lepore, known as the dancing cop, has returned with some fancy footwork for his 30th holiday season, patrolling traffic in Providence.

Once a full-time officer, Lepore has grooved his way into the national spotlight for incorporating his smooth moves into his daily police duties.

After his retirement, the city asked the 66-year-old to come back during the holidays.

This year, as a special holiday treat, Lepore will hand out candy canes to children passing by.
