Deltona woman discovers mystery blood inside home

Mom, daughter arrive home to find papers, blood in house

DELTONA, Fla. – A Deltona mother wants to know how blood was smeared and splattered inside her home.

Monica Caldwell said she and her daughter arrived home this weekend to find papers and blood throughout their home.  Some of the blood even soaked through their furniture.

"I thought the dog had gone through the trash," Caldwell said. "There was a can of raviolis, so my first reaction was he cut himself on a can."

A thorough inspection of her dog found no cut, no blood and no injuries.

A bloody trail led from the living room to the bedroom, where it was found in the oscillating fan she uses.

Volusia County Sheriff's investigators were not able to determine what happened.

Caldwell said even though there was no sign of a break in, she believes someone broke into her home and got bit by her dog.

If you have any information, call the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.
