Man wanted for probation violation, flees deputies

UMATILLA, Fla. – A Lake County man was arrested on Monday morning after fleeing from deputies by jumping into a Umatilla lake, continuing to swim away, according to authorities.

Charles Dufresne was wanted for Violation of Probation out of Orange County and when authorities tried to arrest him, he jumped into Lake Mary and refused to come out of the water, deputies said.

Dufresne continued to swim away from the boat and made several attempts to conceal himself under water. After several minutes and offers of a lifejacket two Lake County deputies jumped into the lake and took Dufresne into custody.
