Dog leads woman away from tree falling into Orlando house

30-foot tree crashed into woman's home

ORLANDO, Fla. – Paula Brownlow calls her dog Moses a hero. He could hear the cracking and breaking of an 80-year-old, 30-foot, triple trunk tree in the yard. Brownlow was dozing off on the couch.

"He comes running to the door and at the same time I get up and follow him, and the crack of the ceiling's coming down and the tree,” Brownlow said.

The tree crashed directly onto her rooftop in the 3000 block of Sherry Drive in Orlando. The ceiling caved in right where she was sleeping and leaving a gaping hole.

"If that would have been just a little bit more and hit this fan it would have brought down on me."

Brownlow grew up in the home, and fought the banks to get ownership after her parents died. Recently she retained ownership, but couldn't afford insurance yet.

"If you can help me, please help me. I don't know what to do," she said.

Brownlow plans to sleep in a tent with her dog until she can figure out what to do. She's worried she may not be able to afford the repairs.
