Bald Eagle stuck by vehicle released back into wild

Eagle rescued by FHP trooper

ST. CLOUD, Fla. – A Bald Eagle that was rescued last month after being struck by a vehicle is getting a second change to spread its wings.

The eagle was rescued last month by FHP Troopers Juan C. Perez and Julio Velez after it was found on the Florida Turnpike after being struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The owner of the vehicle said the rare bird struck the windshield of the car.

The eagle was transported to the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey, where he has made a full recovery.

Friday in St. Cloud, the troopers who bravely rescued the Bald Eagle were given the chance to release the bird back into the wild.

"Anybody that stops and cares for any kind of wildlife is a hero in my eyes," said Birds of Prey rehabilitation specialist Diana Flynt.

Birds of Prey focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation and release of Florida's wild birds.
