EDGEWATER, Fla. – The Edgewater woman accused of drowning puppy at a Nebraska airport was arrested on Monday on a Florida theft warrant.
Nebraska authorities charged 56-year-old Cynthia Anderson with animal neglect, accusing her of drowning a puppy in a Grand Island airport bathroom on Jan. 23.
The 56-year-old Anderson was barred from boarding a flight at the Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island because the puppy was so young and not properly contained. Authorities say Anderson then was seen entering a bathroom. Another woman soon reported finding a dead Doberman puppy in a toilet.
Anderson was rearrested Jan. 30 after she'd posted bond to leave the Hall County Jail. She had been held there on a felony Nebraska charge of animal neglect. She was released and came back to Edgewater on her own.
Port Orange police say Anderson stole a little over $400 worth of jewelry and sleepwear from Kohl's back in November.
Anderson told Local 6 she did not want to go on camera and didn't want to comment, but said that people are going to judge her anyways.
Anderson remains in Volusia County jail. Anderson is supposed to face a judge in Nebraska Monday morning. It's for a bond revocation hearing. If she's a no-show, a warrant will be issued for her arrest.
She has first appearance at the Volusia County Jail at 1:30 p.m.
If Anderson is convicted on an animal cruelty charge, she could face up to five years in prison and $10,000 in fines.
