ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – In the wake of the devastating shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, a very special fund has been created to help those victims.
It's an education fund for children of anyone hurt or killed in the attack.
Miguel Honorato was killed at Pulse and leaves behind a wife and three sons.
His wife of 12 years, Minerva Mederos , said as time passes, it’s getting harder because reality is her best friend and father to their boys is never coming home.
We sat down with Mederos to see how her family is coping.
"It’s been so difficult when he was here we were a team. He would do something I would do another he would help out with the kids while I would cook … now it’s like, you know, I have to be two places at once," said Mederos.
Joel, 3, and Julian, 1, keep her busy and strong.
"I have to do it for them. They're so tiny (that) they don't know yet. They don't know what's going on, which hurts because they won't know how their dad was -- how he cared for them," said Mederos.
To help children like the Honorato kids, the Bridges of Light Foundation set up a charity education fund just for children whose parents were victims of the Pulse tragedy.
"A group of us were brainstorming and decided, "Why not raise money for education to pay for their college tuition so we don't forget about them ?'” said charity organizer Sam Azar.
It will help children like Xavier Serrano Rosado's son, who will now have to grow up without a father.
That's something Mederos said she thinks about every day.
“When he grabs my phone and looks at the picture he'll point at him and smile and just like pa pa ... that hurts," she said. "I can't explain to him what is going on. He doesn't tell me, but I know he misses him. We all do.”
Honorato was the sole provider for their family and they do have a go fund me page.
Mederos said the outpouring of love and support is overwhelming.
Charity organizers are hoping people donate to the bridges of light education foundation ..and again money that goes toward education.
